The Century House · Ocean Grove, NJ

Except for the kitchen and shag carpeting, this century-old home had never been updated. The foundation was crumbling, the porch columns were collapsing, and the interior space had been chopped up into unusable space.

Cate’s goal was to first stabilize the structure.  Then, while keeping the historic detailing intact, update the interior to accommodate the needs and preferences of a modern lifestyle. A prime example of this accommodation is the newly installed iron grated coal basket fireplace that houses a flat-screen tv in its cabinetry.  Cate also added a dining nook in the kitchen, kept traditional with a built-in window seat.
