About

Cate Comerford earned her Master’s Degree in Architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology and her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. She is a licensed registered architect in New Jersey, New York and Washington.

Cate began her career designing high-end housing under the tutelage of Eleanor Petersen, a former apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. She continued with Roth Associates, working on commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
 
In 1995, Cate became a principal partner of the firm Studio Architects.  She led numerous projects for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey at the World Trade Center, Newark Airport and the PA Bus Terminal.
 
In 2000 Cate launched her own firm, Cate Comerford AIA, LLC, specializing in traditional design and historic renovation.
 
Cate has won four Beersheba Awards (in 2005 and 2007) for Historic Preservation: one for the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association tents and three for single family residences. In addition, Cate won the 2005 certificate of recognition for significant contributions to the preservation and restoration of Ocean Grove’s heritage. She was recently prized with the Chester Historical Society Community Achievement Award.
