a multiple-award winning architect, cate comerford specializes in traditionally designed homes
and in historic home renovation. since launching her own firm in 2000, she has garnered ten ocean grove beersheba awards (2005 to 2009) for historic preservation as well as a chester historical society
community achievement award. her residential work has been published in period homes magazine, jersey
shore magazine and design nj.
cate began her career under the tutelage of architect eleanor petersen, a former apprentice to the
esteemed frank lloyd wright. today, her residential portfolio includes everything from grand old
victorians and craftsman bungalows to "new old Homes" with classic detailing. as a certified interior
designer, cate has helped many of her residential architectural clients complete their projects by
designing furniture layouts, choosing window treatments, fabrics and paint colors. she was the master
bathroom designer at the sheep's run showhouse for stately homes by-the-sea.
during her career, she's worked on commercial, hospitality and institutional projects as well, most
notably the grant hall cafeteria at west point. cate's latest hospitality project, scheduled to roll-out
summer 2009, is a sleek euro-modern café, with a gelatoria & bakery. cate earned her masters degree
in architecture from new jersey institute of technology and her bachelor's degree from boston university.
she is a licensed registered architect in new jersey, new york, and washington and a licensed certified
interior designer in new jersey.
